Happy Belated Independence Day!

It has been a very long time, since something was posted on here. I'm sorry!

We just celebrated Fourth of July. I love that holiday! I love that it is our country's birthday. It is Independence Day. We are a free nation. That truly is a blessing.

We are free because of the men and women of the past and present that have fought and fight for our freedom. I am so thankful for them! I view myself as a proud American. I am pro-military. I always have been. However, I know more people now that are fighting for our country then I ever have. There are two men that are overseas whose children I have taught, and one leaving in the fall. There is a guy I went to elementary school with that is now in Afghanistan. There is also a guy who I know from church in Iraq, and there is another guy who is the brother of a good friend of mine who has fought in Iraq in recent times. I think about them often and try to pray for them daily. I am proud of what they do!

I have a burden for our military men and women. There is a Baptist mission board whose focus is to reach military bases with Jesus Christ. I've prayed for them and have asked God to use me in that area if He chooses to, in the future. These men and women are brave, and I count them as my heroes. However, they still need the Lord. I'm thankful to say that most of these I know do know the Lord, and I hope and pray they share their faith with their fellow soldiers as much as they can.

Honestly, I don't know why I included all that except to say I am thankful for what they do. Coming off of Independence Day and focusing on the freedoms of our country, I am thankful for those who sacrifice themselves for our country--me. I'm able to write on this blog and mention the Lord because of their sacrifice. That is freedom!

I am not the smartest person in the world; I'll admit that. I'm not majorly into politics, but like I said I'm pro- America which, in my simple opinion, is pro- freedom. These men that I previously mentioned are sacrificing their lives for our freedoms; however, some of our freedoms are being taken away. We now have someone that is to help or 'be over' our health system that skipped the whole approval process from our Congress. That was due to our President. That is wrong! Soldiers give their lives so we can be free and have the freedom of speech. We elect our Congress to speak for us. When that opportunity is taken away, like it was, our freedom in that situation was taken away. Shame on them!

When I think of our men and women who fight for us and the possibility of them getting hurt or worse, I get upset that the things they are fighting for are not appreciated or being taken away. That is not how you say thank you to our soldiers. They deserve our respect and honor.

This was a lot of thoughts! It dealt with our freedoms but mostly it deals with those who fight for our freedoms. If you are one who has or does fight for our freedom, I thank you from the bottom of my heart for what you do. If you know a soldier, please thank them. Thank them for the opportunity you have to be free.
